You will be compiling a document while you are working through your Family Life Plan. Print a hard copy of all the Homework from each section and attach any other corresponding documents from each section. Remember to keep these documents in a very safe place, even while you are working on them. They contain very important and sensitive personal data.

The Family Life Plan Checklist and worksheets covers:

  1. Estate Planning (Wills, Living Wills, and Trusts)
  2. Beneficiaries
  3. Key People
  4. Dependents
  5. Insurance
  6. Budget
  7. Accounts

Once your plan is complete, ensure both your spouse and you have access to these documents. It is a good idea to keep this plan in a fire proof lock box in your home and/or in a safety deposit box, that you both have access to. Also make sure that the Executor(s), Guardian(s) and/or Trustee(s) you have choosen know where these documents and estate planning documents are kept in the chance that both you and your spouse pass away at the same time.

You will need a PDF Viewer to access some files on this site. You can download Adobe Reader for free at the link below.

For the next six weeks or so, set aside at least one to two hours a week to work on this plan with your spouse. Some sections, such as Estate Planning, may take longer to complete than others and require sceduling an appointment with a professional. While other sections, such as Budget, may be completed in an hour or two.

It is important for you and your spouse to work together on this plan. Part of the exercise is for each spouse to become familiar with parts of family life they may not normally manage.
